Our approach
Care begins before the camera comes out.
The photographer’s job is not to make an emotional day more complicated. It is to arrive prepared, understand the room, and preserve what matters without asking the family to manage us.
Before the service
We schedule one focused planning call with the person your family designates. We confirm the timeline, names, traditions, must-have details, sensitive boundaries, family portraits, and the venue’s rules. When appropriate, we coordinate directly with the funeral home, house of worship, cemetery, or event venue.
During the gathering
We arrive early, dress conservatively, silence equipment, and use available light whenever practical. We avoid the center aisle during meaningful moments, do not photograph someone who asks us to stop, and never stage grief. If portraits are requested, they are organized simply and efficiently.
Afterward
Images are reviewed carefully for expression, context, dignity, and visual quality. Duplicate, test, or potentially unkind frames are removed. The edited collection is delivered privately; files are never used for promotion without a separate written release.
What Dearly Told does
Dearly Told is a memorial photography and storytelling studio. We create photographs, tribute films, memorial websites, and recorded remembrances. We do not plan or lead the service, provide counseling, or offer livestreaming.
Ask the funeral home or venue whether they provide an installed, staffed livestream system.
Private work stays private
We do not fill the website with invented client stories or display a family’s photographs without express written permission. Your planning details and finished gallery are handled as private family material.
